In the heart of Rome, there is an oval amphitheatre called "Flavian" that can hold 50 thousand spectators. This feat of engineering was built in the first century and is best known for the gladiator fights. 

Today, the Colosseum is an iconic landmark synonymous with Italy which is even recognised as one of the New 7 Wonders of the World.
